Adult Indoor
2024-2025 WINTER INDOOR VOLLEYBALL Session I starts October 29th. Every night starts after this date with the exception of Thursday, which will start Nov. 7th.
AS ALWAYS, CHOOSE THE NIGHT YOU WANT TO PLAY, WE WILL EMAIL YOU A START TIME FOR THE FIRST WEEK. PLEASE NOTE, THE TIMES LISTED FOR EACH NIGHT ARE ESTIMATED START TIMES. DEPENDING ON THE NIGHT, WE DON’T NORMALLY HAVE TOO MANY “LATE GAMES”, BUT IT’S POSSIBLE DUE TO THE NUMBER OF TEAMS PARTICIPATING.
Centerline offers 2 indoor leagues each year: Winter session I starting around the end of October and Winter session II beginning in early to mid January. As with sand volleyball, we have a variety of leagues including 6×6 Coed Recreational, 6×6 Coed Competitive, 6×6 Womens’ Competitive, and 4×4 Competitive. Both sessions run for 10 weeks and the cost is $300 per 6×6 team and $200 per 4×4 team.
Indoor volleyball is a faster game than sand volleyball but presents a different challenge and is a nice change of pace for those that play sand year after year. As with our sand leagues, we also provide “Championship” t-shirts to the winners of each league. The #1 goal is to have fun, but its nice to get something more than just a pat on the back for winning. We offer a league for every skill level, if you are new to Centerline, please call or email us as we can help guide you to the most appropriate league.
INDOOR RULES FOR ALL LEAGUES:
ON COED LEAGUES, EACH TEAM IS LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN 3 GUYS PLAYING AT ANY TIME. IT IS OK TO PLAY WITH MORE GIRLS THAN GUYS. FOR EXAMPLE, A TEAM COULD PLAY WITH 2 GUYS AND 4 GIRLS.
GUY/GIRL RULE- IF THE BALL IS HIT MORE THAN ONCE ON YOUR SIDE OF THE COURT, A GIRL MUST BE AT LEAST ONE OF THE HITS BEFORE IT GOES BACK OVER THE NET.
OVERHAND SERVE RULE (DOES NOT APPLY TO THE WOMENS LEAGUE OR 6X6 & 4X4 COMPETITIVE LEAGUES)- IF A PLAYER SERVES 3 CONSECUTIVE OVERHAND SERVES, THE NEXT SERVE MUST BE UNDERHAND. IF THAT SERVE RESULTS IN ANOTHER POINT FOR THE SERVING TEAM, THE PLAYER CAN THEN SERVE ANOTHER 3 OVERHAND SERVES, THEN UNDERHAND, AND SO ON.
NET SERVES- SERVES THAT HIT THE TOP OF THE NET AND GO OVER ARE IN PLAY JUST LIKE ANY OTHER TIME DURING THE MATCH. IF THE BALL DROPS ON THE OPPOSING COURT, IT IS A POINT FOR THE SERVING TEAM.
ANY PART OF THE BODY IS LEGAL TO CONTACT THE BALL, AS LONG AS ITS A SINGLE CONTACT.
YOU CANNOT BLOCK OR ATTACK A SERVE. THIS SHOULD BE OBSERVED BY BOTH RECREATIONAL AND COMPETITIVE LEAGUES.
ALL GAMES ARE PLAYED TO 25 POINTS, RALLY SCORING. IF THE 1 HOUR ALLOTED TIME IS ALMOST ELAPSED, CENTERLINE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO LIMIT THE 3RD GAME TO 15 POINTS. EACH TEAM WILL PLAY 3 GAMES PER NIGHT REGARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME OF THE FIRST 2.
THERE ARE NO REFS, ALL CALLS HAVE TO BE MADE BY THE TEAMS PLAYING. IF A CALL IS QUESTIONABLE, REPLAY THE POINT.
THE WINNING TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TURNING IN SCORES. A SCORESHEET IS KEPT BY THE BAR TO RECORD THE SCORES.
TEAMS ARE EXPECTED TO START GAMES BY THEIR POSTED TIME FOR ALL LEAGUES. ANY TEAM NOT ON THE COURT WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF THE START TIME WILL HAVE TO FORFEIT THE FIRST GAME.
These are the basic rules for Centerline. For more specific rules, please reference the USA Volleyball rulebook:
